Q:

Please hury What is the range of the relation? {(1, 2), (2, 4), (3, 2), (4, 4)}A{2, 4, 6}B{2, 4}C{1, 2, 3, 4}D{1, 2, 3, 4, 6}

Accepted Solution

A:
Option BThe range of the relation is {2, 4}Solution:Given, function set is {(1, 2), (2, 4), (3, 2), (4, 4)}  We have to find what is the range of the relation from given set of options.  Now, we know that, in a function mapping set, the first elements of the brackets are from the domain set of the function and the second elements are from co – domain sets. So, now, let us separate, the given function set as domain and co - domain  Domain = {1, 2, 3, 4} Co – domain = {2, 4}   we wrote 2 and 4 only once, even when they are two times mapped in functions set as co –domain does not support duplicate elements. So, co – domain = {2, 4} Then, range will also be {2, 4} as we written the co – domain from function set directly, co –domain equals with range. Hence, the range of the relation is {2, 4}.  Hence Option B is correct
